Alex_Spider-like plant in woods
I took this photo for my winter remnants spring anew assignment. I took this photo last week when we had the snow day on Monday. I took many photos for this assignment and I thought this was among my favorite photo I took. I like this photo for a number of reasons. First thing I like about in this photo is the lighting because the exposure is well balanced and not too harsh. I also like how the light source is in the center and above projecting onto the spiky plant. I like how the sunlight is casting through the plants because it reflects the different colors of the green plant. I also like how the frame is centered because it draws your eyes into the middle of the frame of the photo. I also like how some of the spiky plant is covered a bit with snow because it makes this photo interesting to look at. I also like how the snow mixes in with the spring plants sprouting early before spring actually started. I also like the natural shadows of the spiked plant on the snow because it adds contrast to the photo. I also like how the depth of field in this photo is medium because it allows the foreground and middle ground to be mostly in focus. I also like how in the back petals of the spiky plant are partially covered with water droplets because it makes the photo look interesting and less dull. The water droplets on the back petals add texture and detail to this photo. I also like how the lighting in this photo also is because the sunlight casting on the plant makes it look like it has a sort of glowing effect to this photo. I also like how the petals of the plant aren't all just one solid and single color because it adds more variety of color to this photo and it makes the light reflect through the plant. I also like how the pointy petals of the plant aren't all pointing the same direction because it allows your eyes to look all around the plant. I also like how the background of the pond in the background is completely blurred out because it keeps your eyes completely on the plant instead of being distracted by the background. I also like how the background is blurred out because it makes a nice background for the plant which is smooth. I think if the lighting on the snow and the plant was too harsh the details of the snow and the plant wouldn't be as interesting to look at because it would be harder to observe the little details. I think with the snow covering the grass and the plants makes the nature of this photo much more interesting and appealing to look at. I also like how some of the petals on the plant are darker lit than the other petals higher up because it makes a nice contrast of different light in this photo. I also like how its the only thing that is practically green on the ground because it catches your attention. I also like how the lighting of the snow is because the sunlight on the snow particles brings the light out onto the photo. I also like how some of the snow particles are shiny and sparkly because it adds more light into the photo. I also like how the water dripping down the petals makes the texture of the plant more shiny and smooth. The only thing I wish I could change in this photo would be to not have a fragment of a pine branch towards the bottom right corner of the frame in the photo and I also wish the sun spot dot on the left bottom corner of the frame in the photo because I think it is a tiny bit distracting. I took this photo on my Nikon D3200 without flash, using natural lighting, using my zoom lens to pull in the plant, and auto focus settings.

I like the composition of this photo, which the main object is right in the middle and there is no any distraction. The background is very blurry and makes this photo looks clean.

ReplyDeleteThanks for your feedback. I agree with you about the composition of this photo as well because it is well lit, focused and smooth. I also agree with you about having the blurred background because it does make this photo have no distractions to throw off the attention of the snow covered plant. I also agree that positioning the plant towards the center keeps your focus directly into the photo rather than looking elsewhere to concentrate on looking at the main object of the photo. I think having the focus to be sharp and tight allows the photo to be smooth and easier to observe at the details of the photo as a whole. I also agree that the photo looks clean with having the background to be out of focus and blurred out by the shallow depth of field and focus. I think if the background wasn't blurry the photo would be harder to concentrate on looking at the snow covered plant completely, because then you would see more distracting objects in the middle ground and background. The composition of this photo framed in the middle was a good idea for the intention of focusing at the plant completely. Again thanks for your feedback.
ReplyDeleteI like the different depths of field within the pictures well as the contrast of the green plant and the white snow. I also like the different strands of grass creating texture in the snow. As well as how the foreground is focused and the background is out of focus.
