Alex_Chopped Tree Log
I took this photo last week when I was out for my walk around my area. I saw a bunch of chopped up logs of tree trunks in a circle so I thought it would be interesting to take a photo of one of the logs up close. I decided to choose this tree log with my zoom lens to capture the little details of the texture. I like this photo for many reasons. First I like how there are many different color tones to the bark of the tree wood because it makes the color contrast well with the light and darkish brown colored wood. I also like how the texture of the bark is in focus because you can see all the different rings the log has on it. I also like how the reddish brown color of the bottom left corner of the log complements with the shriveled leaves behind the bottom right edge of the log, because it allows your eyes to focus on the variety of colors around this photo. I also like how around the outer rings of the log the color of the wood is more of a tannish gray like brown because it adds more depth to the photo. I also like how the shape of the chopped log isn't the same shape all around the base of the log because it makes the photo more interesting to look at. I also like how around each imaginary ring of the log has a slightly different shade of brown because it allows your eyes to look directly into the photo and observe the details of the log. I also like how the background is blurred out because it draws your eyes only onto the front log instead of the other objects. I also like how the patterned lines on the log point directly to the center ring of the log because it sort of acts like a guide to where your eyes should look towards in the photo. I also like how the brown leaves around the log are many different shades of brown because it complements with the many different shades of the brown log. I also like how the depth of field in this photo is wide enough to fit the whole frame of the front of the log because it brings you directly into the main focal point of the photo rather than looking away from the photo. I like how the natural lighting in this photo isn't too harsh because it doesn't take away any of the fine colors around the photo in the foreground, middle ground and background in this photo. I think with the colors being well balanced and lit well the details of the log are well shown and not distorted at all. I also think that with the green grass and the fallen leaves spread around the log makes this photo also have more variety in patterns and variety in color. I don't think I would change anything to this photo because there aren't any distractions that would disrupt the focus of this photo. I took this on my Nikon D3200, with natural lighting, without flash, I used my 55-200x zoom lens to get the details of the log up close, and I used auto focus settings, auto iso setting and auto aperture settings.
