Alex_Money (1925 Peace Dollar)
I decided to choose this photo from our classes "money" assignment we chose from. I took many photographs of a variety of different types of money and I thought this old 1925 silver dollar would be a cool thing to take a photo of. I like how the thread textures and patterns of the chair compliment with the shapes of the spikes on the lady's hair on the coin because it makes this photo interesting to look at. I also like how the grayish silver color complements with the creamy color of the chairs fabric. I also like how the direction of patterns on the chair point directly to the main focus point which is the peace dollar. I also like how the silver has some slight oxidizing spots around the perimeter of the coin, on her cheeks, neck and forehead because it adds variety to this photo. I think the lighting isn't too harsh and not overexposed, reflects the smooth colors of the coin and the textures of the chair below the coin. I like the angle of the photo because it isn't taken directly from an upwards angle, but rather a low frontal angle with a lower perspective because it makes the detail and relief of the strike of the coin pop out in a three-dimensional angle. I also think taking my photo at this angle makes the coin look not flat and makes the rims of the coin appear to be three dimensional as well making the photo look more appealing at a horizontal and dimensional point of view. I also like how the curls of the woman's hair traces an imaginary line the corresponds with the patterns of the chair on the right edges of the coin. This makes the photo look interesting to look at and brings your eyes around the photo. The only few things I wish I could have changed in this photo would have been to have the bottom of the coin with the year and in god we trust to be in better focus because it slightly takes away the essence of the photo. The second thing I wish I changed in this photo would have been to have more colors in the background of this photo because its a little bit too monotone. The last thing I wish I could have changed in this photo would have been to crop out the top right corner of the frame in the photo because the dark colored pattern peaking out in the corner of the top right slightly distracts the focus of the photo. I also wish the depth of field was a little bit slightly wider because parts of the coin are blurred out, but not extremely significant. I think if those things were added or changed to my photo I think this photo would have a slightly different perspective.

Mr. Barry I didn't get any comments from anyone from last Sunday's post.
ReplyDeleteI like how the amount of detail within the coin and the background. I also like that there is similar colors in both the coin and what the coin is on. The other thing that I like about the photo is that the similar textures there is.
