AlexBrown_Victorian Marble Fountain

I took this photo when I was away for Thanksgiving this week. I decided to choose this photo for this week's post because I think this was an interesting photo. I saw this old marble fountain while I was exploring around some of the old Newport Mansions. I thought this fountain had some interesting carvings around the base of the fountain so I decided to take a photo of the little people on the fountain. I like this photo because it shows a few different emotions in this particular photo, one is fear, the second is curiosity, and the third is happiness. I think with the babies with different facial expressions makes this an interesting story. I think the artist who made this fountain was trying to set a tone for the people who would observe the fountain, which is important when it comes to art. I think it is interesting that the babies left and right of the gargoyle or mask they are holding makes this photo have good action. I like the lighting of this photo because it isn't too overexposed and it is well focused. I like that the framing I chose for this photo is in complete focus because it allows you to focus on the detail of the fountain carvings that are three dimensional and the relief is pretty high. I also like the aging mold that is growing on the marble because it adds a balance of color between whites, gray and tannish mold. I also think the lighting is the most important part of this photo because the subjects are well lit which makes this photo very interesting. The only thing I wish I could change in this photo would have been to not have a little bit of negative space on the right end of the photo because you can see a little bit of the ground and the landscape around the fountain. I took this on my Nikon D3200 with natural lighting, without flash, and using the auto focus setting.
