AlexBrown_Chipmunk

I decided to choose this photo for this week's post because I think this was among one of my many photos I took this weekend. I took this yesterday when I was in New Hampshire for the weekend visiting family. I like this photo out of the many other attempts I tried to photograph of this chipmunk, but this photo turned out to be awesome. I took this in the early afternoon on Saturday in a small tree branch this chipmunk was eating seeds. The chipmunk was very tame and mellow so I decided to move up closer to the branch and take several photographs. I liked this photo because the chipmunk front of his body is in focus and his eyes are in focus which makes this photo important for a nice candid animal nature photo. I like how calm the chipmunk is and he doesn't seem to care whats going on around him and he is just doing his own thing. I like this photo because there is low light, shallow depth of field, balance of color and contrast in this photo because it adds value to this photo. I like the different shades of color the chipmunk has on his body because it makes this photo not dull. I like that the foreground of the photo is in focus because it keeps your eyes focused on the chipmunk and not so much the other things around him. The only thing I wish I could have changed in this photo would have been to not have that branch to the right of the chipmunk because it cuts a little bit of his body off and it also slightly distracts the focus of the chipmunk solely. I took this photo on my Nikon D3200 with natural lighting, auto focus settings, without flash, and using my 55-200x zoom lens.

  1. I love this picture so much. The best thing about it is that the eyes are in really good focus and so is the fur. I also like how there isn't a distracting background, just a couple of branches that make the photo look really nice. Good job.
