Alex_First Home Spring Track Meet
I took this photo a few weeks ago when Marian had their first home spring track meet at Bowditch field. I went there to support the team and take some good photos of the team during the events. I took many photographs at the meet and I think this photo was among one of my best action photos I got of Christian at the last stretch in the 400 meter hurdles. I like this photo for many reasons. First I think the lighting in this photo is well lit because it isn't too bright or too dark, this makes the colors balanced well. I also like how as he is pushing towards the finish line you can see the motion and speed of him running. I also like how it focused because you can visualize the motion of the photo of his fast speed as the camera is trying to focus crisply. I also like how you can see a lot of emotion of his actions trying to catch up to the opponent track runner out of the frame. I also like how his shoes and his legs are partially off the ground because it makes this photo more interesting to look at. I also like how his hair is also blowing because it resembles his acceleration to the finish line. I also like how this photo is sort of a candid action photo because it picks up adrenaline and momentum to the nature of this sports action photo. I also like how the angle of this photo is slightly at a tilt because it adds more of a perspective to the point of view in this photo. I also think having him non centered makes this photo better because it adds more depth and distance to this photo. I also like how most of the foreground and middle ground is in focus and a wide depth of field because it enables the photo to pick up more of the intensity of the track race at large which allows you to focus your attention into the photo rather than looking away from the photo. I think its important in a photo like this to have a wider depth of field and focus because it opens up more dimensions and quality to this photo as a whole. I also like how there are a slight variety of different colors and light shades in this photo because it makes the photo look more interesting and makes the photo less dull to look at. I like how there are different shades of red and green in this photo because it adds more contrast to this photo. I also like how vibrant green his shoelaces are because it draws your attention into the photo rather than away from the photo. The only thing I wish I could change in this photo would have been to move the dropped paper off the grass of the side of the track because it makes it slightly distracting. The other thing I wish I could have changed would have been to just slightly crop off the top of the photo because you can see a little bit of a pipe above the wall of the grandstands. I took this photo on my Nikon D3200 without flash, using auto focus adjustments, natural lighting, auto iso settings and faster shutter speeds to get the action of the track runner.

This is a well shot photo. I like how you got him in mid-air ( his feet weren't touching the ground). This is photo also has great lighting there are no harsh shadows. And I also like how you got his facial expression. Also I like how you got his hair flinging back. I also like how you got his jersey. In most pictures that have somebody running the jersey is all crinkled. The only thing that I would have done different is get the guy in the background out of the picture. He is kind of distracting. Other then that good work!
ReplyDeleteI like how well you captured this photo. Even though it's an action shot you still were able to get it in good focus. I also like how the colors are really vibrant, specifically the greens. Nice job.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to reply to both of your comments. I agree with you Khalid about how his feet are in mid air because it makes the photo look really interesting to look at. It also makes the photo more intense and perpetual in motion. I think getting the photo just right so his feet are mid air makes this photo resemble all the action of a fast track runner pushing to the finish line. I agree with you also about the non harsh shadows and the lighting because it really is well balanced because the colors of his shoes and track uniform aren't distorted and the color of the track isn't too distorted by the right amount of light in the photo. I think the way his jersey is shown is just right because it has a little bit of crinkles, this makes the photo have more texture and details to the photo. I also agree with you about the guy in the background. I wish he wasn't in the photo because he does sort of distract this photo a bit in terms of concentrating on the track runner instead.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you as well about the well focused photo of the track runner because even though he is running pretty fast the focus on him is pretty well in focus and not blurred out. I agree with you too about the vibrant colors in this photo are because it keeps your attention onto the photo rather than being distracted by other things in the photo. Thanks for both of your feedback.
