Alford_snow on the trees

I took this picture with my EOS 5D. It was on my way back from my basketball game. And my family stopped for gas. And I thought that this would make a good picture. I grabbed my camera and took several pictures. I picked the best picture I took (in my opinion). I was trying to get the fence in the picture. I was trying to take the picture when it was sunny. I didn't think it would have looked nice when it was cloudy. Thats why I wanted to have the blue sky in the background.

  1. I like this photo. I think this photo has a lot of potential to it. I like this photo because of a number of things in this photo. The first thing that I like about this photo is the lighting in this photo. I like how you used all natural lighting to capture this photo. Another thing that I like about the lighting in this photo is that it isn't overexposed or washed out in any areas of the photo, which helps maintain a lot great quality to the photo itself. Another thing that I like about this photo is the options of colors in this photo of whites, blacks, greens, blues, browns, and grays. I think that by having more than two or three options for colors it adds more quality to the photo for the viewer as opposed to a photo without that many color options in a photo. Another thing that I also like about this photo is that by having the snow covered on practically everything in the background allows the photo to look more interesting to the viewer as opposed to a photo of just random grass, trees, and bushes. By having the snow in this photo enables it to make the viewer feel the season of coldness and of course snow. Another thing that I also like about this photo is the landscape in this photo, I like how the trees up close can't fully be seen from the top to bottom and only part of it can be seen, whereas the trees in the distance can be seen from top to bottom completely, by having this shown through this photo enables it to have landscape photo position for the photo. I think that without having this in the photo that it wouldn't have been as interesting of a photo. Another thing that I like about this photo is how you were able to capture the shadows of the trees on the snow before the railings in the parking lot, as well as the shadows casted onto the snow from the railing, enabling an effect of symmetry to the photo as well as parallel lines because of the railing itself and the shadow. Another thing that I also like about this photo is how you were able to capture the reflection of sky and a slight reflection from the trees from the puddles on the pavement of the parking lot, I think that by having this in the photo also adds to the quality of the photo and makes it more interesting to look at. The only thing that I would have changed about this photo would have been to not have gotten the black box in the far right corner of the photo, or have cropped the photo to remove it from the photo because it is a little bit distracting. Other then that it is a great photo. Nice job and keep up the good work.

    1. Thank you for all the compliments. I did want to get a diversity of colors in the picture. So that you don't only see the white of the snow. I wouldn't have taken this picture if there was no snow on the ground, the picture would have been a boring photo. I did try to get a good portion of the trees in the picture. I wanted the shadows in the picture so that the photo wouldn't be so bright and it would be easier to look at. I did want to get the sky in the picture to show that it was a sunny nice day. And next time I will crop out the unnecessary distracting things. Thank you again.
