grace m. lighthouse

I took this photo on Friday 19th in Rhode Island. My family and I went out to celebrate my mom's birthday and she loves the beach scenery. Behind the light house was more rocks that split the sand and the water in half. There isn't any snow on the ground for all you know I could have taken this picture in the summer when in reality it felt like 20 degrees. Everything is so still and the colors vibrant. Part of the reason the colors look so vibrant is because the source of sunlight which is the sun that is off to the right. It shines directly on the rocks and part of the lighthouse. Another thing about color is how the sky is a darker at the top of the photo and lighter in the middle. The rocks on the bottom/the ground gives a little texture and so does some of the lines on the lighthouse as well as the cracks in the rocks.

  1. I really like this photo for many reasons. First, I like the angle how you took this photo because the lighthouse isn't in the center of the photo. I like the contrast with the white clouds and the white lighthouse because they complement with each other nicely. I like the oxidized copper atrium roof on the lighthouse because it contrasts well with the deep blue sky nicely, and it also adds variety to your photo. I also like the rusty rocks on the stone wall because it adds variety to this photo. I also like the multi tone colors starting from dark brown to light color patterns. I also like the different shapes of the rocks on the stone wall because it adds variety to your photo. I also like how the cloud above the wall is parallel to each other because it makes your photo have an interesting perspective to it. I also like that you can see the colors of the sky aren't overexposed because it doesn't distort the other objects in the photo too much. The only things I would change in this photo would be to move up closer in the photo because the railing on the path to the lighthouse distracts the focus of the photo a bit. Another thing I would have changed about this photo would to either show more of the pole hanging on the tower of the lighthouse, move more to the left a little bit or to crop out the pole because it is cut off from the middle of the pole. I think the pole distracts the focus point of the photo. Otherwise, I think this is a really nice photo. Keep up the good work.

    1. Thank you! I didn't really look at it but since I do now I totally agree with you that the pole is distracting and same goes for the railing.
