I took this photo when I was trying to frame the picture for the film portraits assignment. I like this photo because of how it is centered and symmetric. Another thing that I like about this photo is that how the face of the person is off to the side a little as so as the hair and scarf. The thing that I would change the most would be the back drop from being a bulletin board color to a color that constant with the portrait's skin tone and clothes.

Eric_Homecoming
This photo was taken on the back way of the ski trip in New Hampshire. Everyone was exhausted, and the weather was claudy just makes people sleepy. The sun light was blurred by the cloud. The color is kind of dull, most black and white, but very suit for this occasion. I did not change anything of this photo, it really show the reality. And the interesting thing is that the little part of blue which infront of the driver, who is Mr.McGarry, reminds me that the only one who cannot be sleepy is the driver, but he also did the most hard work.
Mike_Odisi
This is a photo I took of Michael Healey. I took this photo in my apartment building when Mike came over. I really like the background on this photo because it's very light which is a good contrast because Mike is wearing a black jacket and black glasses and has black hair. I think this is a good photo but I do not like the shadows that there are under his hair, hand and glasses. Michael chose the position he is in on the photo because he thought the photo I took before this looked weird. This photo is also nice because you can see each eye brow hair and the hair on his face which I think is pretty cool even though he should shave. On the other hand the background and his arm are out of focus.
Daniel_Sunset
I took this photo at afternoon, on my backyard, when I was drink the water in my house, I saw the beautiful sunset outside the window, I focus on the sun and the middle of the tree, which makes other tree looks a little bit blurred, but I kind like it because it can let you focus more on the sun than the other tree, I make the sunlight comes out from the leaves which can add more depth on this photo, the only things I kind want to change is that I should make the sun in the center of the photo, but anyway, I think it is a good photo.
Alford_park
This is at cushing park. I was walking my dog, I brought my camera because I thought that I could take some good pictures. I thought that the line of trees and the people walking would make for a great picture. So I got my camera in the position to just get enough of every aspect of the area. For example the trees, the grass, the cement, and the people walking. It took me a while to get the right angle. I had to tilt it a lot till I finally got the right angle.
Julianna_Shapes
I took this photo of one of those snow reflectors that you put in the ground, so the plows do not plow on to your lawn while I was on a walk. I like this photo because I like how I was able to capture all the tiny shapes and lines on the plastic of the reflector. I also like the focus in this photo because one part is clear, dark and in focus, and you can see multiple triangles and hexagons. Also in the other part at is not in clear focus you can see diamonds and squares surrounding the hexagons and triangles. I also like how I was able to capture the different shades of red in this photo, the red adds a cool effect to the photo where it allows the viewer to see the multiple shapes. It also gives a fire type look to the photo with the multiple shades of red. If there was one thing I could change about the photo is the distraction in the bottom right corner, I am not sure what it is, but it is very distracting and takes away from the photo.
Alex_Seagulls Portrait/landscape
I took these photos while I was on February vacation in Florida. I took over 400+ photos on the trip and these were among my favorite perspective type bird type-portraits/landscape photos. In the top photo I like the lighting in the photo because the seagull is well light and not too overexposed by direct sunlight. I like how his white feathers and grey feathers contrast well with the tan sand below him. I also like how the sunlight is coming from the left frame of the photo because it pushes all of the light and shadows to the right direction of the photo. I also like how his feet, beak and yellow eyes complement with each other because it makes the top photo look interesting to look at. I think with his bright yellow colored feet really gets your attention because of its vibrance of color. I think with the seagull and the closest sand in the foreground and middle ground in focus brings your eyes into the photo rather than away from the photo, which makes the photo important. I also like the cast of shadows because it adds a nice contrast of lights and darks to the full photo. I also like how the tip of his beak being black complements with the black feathers of his tail and wings. I think with having his eyes in almost complete focus makes this photo very important in a somewhat bird portrait themed photo. I also like how he is positioned because he is turned at a slightly curved position. I also like the many footprints in the sand around the seagull on the top photo because the footprints are drawing an imaginary line towards the direction where his beak is pointing because it adds a nice perspective to this photo. It also makes the essence of the photo look smooth and interesting. The only thing I wish I could have changed in the top photo would have to not partially cut off the tail of the seagull because it is just slightly cut off by accident.
In the bottom photo I took this photo crouched down low on a sand eroded dune. I crouched low so I could get the seagull at a mounted-like perspective for the seagull. I like how the main focus of the photo is in the very middle ground because it draws your eyes directly to the center line of the rule of thirds. I like how the front foreground is completely blurry while the seagull and the mound of sand around the seagull is perched on is in total focus because it makes the perspective of the photo interesting and different. I also like how there is a little slope on the line where the seagull is mounted on because it brings your eyes over to the left frame of the photo a little bit. I also like the variety of different color tones of the sand because it adds variety and contrast to the photo. I like how the mound where the seagull is on is right on the middle of the photo because it makes the photo stand out like a landscape perspective. I like how the seagulls grey feathers look very different in shades of grey than the seagull in the top photo because it contrasts well and makes good differences. I also like how the seagull's yellowish colored feet, beak, and eyes contrast with the green and reddish brown wild sea grass plants in the background of the photo because it adds variety to the photo. I also like that the photo is lined up straight because it doesn't throw off the orientation of the photo at all. I also like how the imaginary straight line of sea grass is parallel to the imaginary line of the middle of the seagulls body and the line where the seagulls beak is aligned is also parallel because it makes the perspective of the photo nice. I took these photos on my Nikon D3200 with natural lighting, without flash, using auto focus settings and auto iso speeds.
Teddy_Beach Portrait
I took this photo when I was in Florida last week during February break, using my Nikon D3200. I captured this photo when I was out for a walk on the beach with my brother. I decided to take a head portrait photo of my brother on the beach. I liked this one in particular for many reasons. The first thing I liked about this photo is that when I took this photo the background was blurred out, allowing the subject of the portrait to be pulled to the fullest attention of my brother. Another thing I liked about this photo is the different variations of colors in this photo such as greens, whites, blues, oranges, pinks, reds, yellows, browns, and tans. Another thing that I really liked about this photo was that you can see great details of his skin, which provides great detail of texture in this photo. I also like how you can see the texture of his baseball cap allowing the detail of the lines going sideways on the cap. I also liked how the lighting was in this photo, I liked how the light reflects on the left side of his face and hat, allowing the center and right side of his face to be shady. I also like how the sunlight on the left side of his face allows a shadow line from the temple of his sunglasses. Another thing I like about this photo is that you can see the little droplets of sweat on his nose as well as above his lips, which adds the amount of detail visible on his face. I also like how the sun was so strong that the left side of his cheek is shiny because of the oils on his skin from the heat, as well as from the hair below the left temple over his ear, this allows a rainbow-like glossy look to the photo. I also like how you can see detail of the little dots of facial hair on his chin in the photo to allow more texture to the details of his face that are shown in the photo. Another thing that I like is that the lenses of his sunglasses are clearly reflective and not foggy, which allows a shiny mirror reflection of me taking the photo with my camera. I think one of the most important parts of the photo is the reflection through his sunglasses. I like how in the reflection you can see my reflection through both lenses of his sunglasses. I like how you can see the waves of the ocean clearly through both lenses. I like how on the right lens of his sunglasses you can my shadow casted on the sand to the lower part of the lens, as well as a slight reflection of my reflection in the right lens in the left corner of it, by having this it allows extra depth to the photo. I also like how you can slightly see both of his eyes through both lenses of his sunglasses, on the right side his eye is seen more visibly than the other. I also like how you can see his fingers through the reflection of his left lens of his sunglasses on the lower part of it, this adds to the strength of the photo along with the other things in this photo. Another thing that I like about this photo is the shininess of the sea grape plants in the background which cast little light flares to the lens in the photo. I think that by having them out of focus preserves the main subject to have the fullest attention. I think that having all of these features in this one photo allows this portrait photo to be much more interesting to the viewer in so many ways. I think that without these things in this photo it wouldn't be as a great of a photo as it is.
grace m. daily jewelry
I put my daily jewelry together and took a close up photo of them with all of them blurred out but the claddagh ring. I chose to have it in the front because its the only piece of jewelry i wear on a daily that has a lot of texture to it. The hands and the crown has the most cravings in the ring. I put the stuff on a piece of paper then just held it up against a white whale so that there would be minimum distractions and so that the lighting from a window just to the right of it would kind of reflect on it and make it a brighter photo in general.
boston night_jonny
I took this picture yesterday night. I switched my function of my camera to night type. And because of that the light of my whoo kind of like full of golden sense. That i think makes the photo look more active. also i zoomed in to make the church to be larger. I think that will also make the photo to be more specific. The favorite of this photo is that the light from the behind. Why do i say that because the light from the behind can make the church to be outstanding.

Daniel_Three Figures
I took this photo with my Coolpix L330, this photo was taken indoor, I focus on these three figures, which you can see all the details on their face and body, the light was really good for me because it's looks like been cut in half, you can see the left side of the photo was really bright and the right side of the photo was really dark, which I kind like that, adds more depth of the photo, I also like the position of the figures, it looks like a bend, which I think it was really good. The figures body were gold, which the light makes them look more shine.
Cahines_stare
I took this photo late to mid day in my dining room which has a fair amount of lighting. Excited that this is the one that my cat stayed still in, I decided to post this one out of about 7 or 8 others. The first thing I like about this photo is that her eyes are in good focus. You can even see reflecting light in them. The rug in the background is in good focus too as well as the details in the brown tiles. The only thing I don't like is that I wished I could have had my cat in the center but cropping didn't make the photo look any better.

EricHe_Cross
This photo was taken at downtown Framingham, the weather was really gorgeous just like summer. The clouds’ layering was really distinct and clear so I wanted to take a photo of the sky, but just shoot the sky will make the photo too commonplace, and the telegraph pole came in to my eyes. The complacatied corss of the wires gives me a good close scene of the composition. And the clear sky and clouds created a really good background.
Alex_Sandpiper On the Shore
I took this photo a couple of days ago when I took a long mile walk along the beach in Florida. I took hundreds of different beach/nature photos on my trip. I saw a big group of Sand piper birds strolling along the shore of the beach eating stuff in the sand. I thought they seemed pretty placid and calm so I went up close to them within 15 feet and took a lot of photos of these birds. I decided to choose this photo out of the hundreds of other photos because I thought this photo stood out the most from a very artistic point of view. I like how all of the soapy salty sea clumps were spread out around the Sea Piper bird because it makes this photo very unique and different from normal bird photos. I also like how this photo turned out nicely with the bird in almost complete focus and the closer bubbly suds in the center and the front of the photo are in focus and the rest of the photo is out of focus. I also think the lighting is very important for this photo because it is not overexposed, the color tones are well balanced and lit. I also like how there are many different shades of light in this photo starting with the dark tones towards the very front of the photo. I also like how you can see the crisp details of the soap suds clearly because it draws your attention into the photo instead of drawing out of the photo. I also like how the wet sand has a nice shiny effect to the photo. I also like how the light source is being reflected back up from the water. I also like how the brown sand complements with the color of the Sand Piper bird because it makes it contrast well. Lastly I like how the focus of the photo is mainly clearest towards the center of the photo because it draws you into the bird. I took this photo on my Nikon D3200 without flash, using the zoom lens, auto focus and auto shutter speed settings.
Teddy_Ocean Waves & Golden Sunrise
I took this photo this week when I was in Florida using my Nikon D3200. I was on a walk along the beach and thought that capturing a photo of a wave would be interesting. Of the 40+ photos I thought that this one was among the best that I captured. I liked this photo in particular for many reasons. The first reason I liked this photo is the many options of colors in this photo, the shades of blues in the water, the greens, browns, whites, yellows and little bits of reds. I also liked that when I captured this photo that there weren't anything distracting in the background, which allows the main subject in this photo to grab the attention in this photo. I also like the lighting in this photo, I didn't have to use any additional lighting, only lighting from sunlight was used to capture this shot. I like how the light is reflected throughout the photo, I like how the light is shining through the wave on the left side of the photo, which allows the wave to look mirror-like. I also like how the wave is darkened partially from where the wave was dipping down, which creates a shadow in select part of the wave, and the lower part of the wave is illuminated by the light from the sun. I also like how the light is reflecting on the thousands of little droplets of water splashes from the wave, which creates a crystal like reflection from the sun, allowing beams of reds, oranges, yellows, blues, greens, and whites. I also like how you can see the details of the water splashes clearly in great detail, which give an illusion of a constellation in the night sky. I also like how the curve of the wave creates interesting shapes and patterns in the water, which allows the photo more quality to the viewer. I also like how in different parts of the water changes shades of colors, in the foreground it is greenish, in the middle ground it is lightish blue, and the far-middle ground is greenish blue, and the far background on the top of the photo is dark blue in the water. By having all of these things in this photo it allows the photo to be more of an interesting photo to the viewer, without all of these things it would not be as interesting of a photo as it is.
I took this photo when I was in Florida this week using my Nikon D3200. I went out early in the morning to watch the sunrise over the ocean. I picked a perfect morning to go out and take photos of it, this being one of my favorites of the 30+ photos I took of the sunrise. I liked this one in particular for many reasons. The first reason was I like how when I took this photo that the horizon line was straight and not angled at all in this photo. I also liked that when I took this photo that there isn't anything distracting in the background that would keep the viewer from focusing on the sun in the photo. I also liked the lighting in this photo, all direct light was used from the sun, which I think that it makes the photo really interesting. I love the color options that were captured in the photo such as yellows, golds, blacks, browns, blues, tans, and whites. I think that by having a wide selection of colors allows the photo to be more vibrant to the viewer. I also like how the sunlight through the sky creates a gold cast to the clouds, this makes the photo look really interesting and unique to the viewer. I like how the sunlight is reflecting on the corner of the ends of the clouds closest to the sun which illuminates the outline of the clouds with an interesting yellow border. I think that having the sun rays below casting down towards the ocean gives the photo a bit of a touch to the photo. I think another thing that I liked about this photo is that some of the clouds are illuminated brighter than others, which allows some of the clouds to stand out more than others. Lastly I like how the sunlight is reflected on the ocean, giving off a reddish glow on the water which brings out the textures of the waves in the ocean, having this in the photo allows more depth to the photo itself. Having all of these features in one photo makes this photo very interesting to the viewer.
ParkerY_ Misc
I took this picture at the first part of the vacation, before all the snow melted. I like how there is hints of orange within the white clouds and there being a contrast of white clouds and blue sky. The kind of light that was used when taking this picture direct sunlight with the sun being able to create harsh shadows are are badly noticeable within the sky. Another thing that I like about this photo is how on both sides of the photo is that there is a stronger presence of blue than there is on the sides and have it create something that has a shape of a river within the picture of the sky.
Julianna_Reflection
I took this photo of some trees reflections in a puddle of water while I was on a walk. I took this photo because I liked how the movement in the water made the trees look wavy and crooked. I also like how I was able to capture the blue sky in the photo as well. I feel that having the sky in the photo adds more to the photo than the photo having a grey dirt background. I also like how I captured the melting snow, you can see all the different textures and the different details in the snow. One thing I wish I could change about the photo is the greys at the bottom of it. I feel that the grey takes away from the photo, and I would crop it out, but the part of the reflection would be cut out of the photo and I wanted to keep the whole reflection in the photo.
Odisi_Hands
This is a photo of the middle shelf on my the bookshelf in the living room. This is one of the better photos that I took this week even though it is not too good. I like it because it has pictures and the wax hands we made on California. I chose to post this photo because there is a lot going on in this photo. I like all the colors that are present. If I could change something I probably would have put on the flash because I think it is a little too dark. Also I would try to remove that glare on the frame by maybe holding up a folder or something. Other than the glare and the photo bring a little dark I like it because it is one of the only things in my house that make it look like we are actually a family.
Alford_sidewalk
This is one of the roads close to where I live. I was walking with my family, when I thought that this could be a good picture. I wanted to wait for when a couple of cars pass by. Because I didn't want to have a empty street, I wanted something to be happening. I was trying to get a good portion of the houses around the area. Along with some trees. On the left I saw that there was a little bit of blue in the cloudy sky. So I wanted that in the picture. I also wanted the full sidewalk that I was walking on in the picture.

grace m. lighthouse
I took this photo on Friday 19th in Rhode Island. My family and I went out to celebrate my mom's birthday and she loves the beach scenery. Behind the light house was more rocks that split the sand and the water in half. There isn't any snow on the ground for all you know I could have taken this picture in the summer when in reality it felt like 20 degrees. Everything is so still and the colors vibrant. Part of the reason the colors look so vibrant is because the source of sunlight which is the sun that is off to the right. It shines directly on the rocks and part of the lighthouse. Another thing about color is how the sky is a darker at the top of the photo and lighter in the middle. The rocks on the bottom/the ground gives a little texture and so does some of the lines on the lighthouse as well as the cracks in the rocks.

Cahines_snowstorm
I took this photo late at night along with about ten others. Despite the fact that this photo was one of the ones I put the least amount of effort into, I think it was one of my best ones out of the ten. The was a little bit of light coming in on the top right corner, that's just my porch light which is the only light source I used. There aren't any distractions since this was cropped. I like how everything important is in focus. You can see that the snow isn't overexposed even though its white, there's details along the edges where the snow is icy. The Reith and red bow are also in good focus, the shadows are really clear and the little pieces of snow are clearly visible. I also like how there isn't a distinct focal pint so your focus is on pretty much everything.

Sunset_Julianna
I took this photo of a sunset in my grandparents front yard today. I really like the way that the sun looked as in was setting behind the trees. I like the focus in this photo because there is a wide depth of feild and it allows the viewer to see the different trees and the rays in the sunset. I also like how I was able to capture the rays in the sunset, I think it adds more to the photo. It adds more detail to the photo than if the sun was just there. The thing I wish I could change about this photo is how the trees are cut off. I wish I could have gotten all of the trees in the photo, but then the driveway would be in the photo and that would be distracting.
Alex_ice & snow
I took this photo today when I was out for a little while taking photos of the wintery weather. I took over thirty photos and thought this was among the best photo I took of the photo shoot. I like this photo for a number of reasons. First, I like the texture of the mossy stone walkway because you can see all of the grainy-like moss almost pretty clearly and it has good detail. I like the variety of different colors the moss has on the stones because it makes this photo interesting to look at. I also like how my photo turned out to have a shallow depth of field because it narrows down your main focus attention to the photo. I also like how you can see the little tiny details of the miniature snow crystals which have good reflections of light fragments. I also like how the snow mixes in with the yellowish brownish moss because it adds more variety to the photo. I think the light in this photo is neutral and that its not too dark and not too bright so the colors are well toned. I also like how the focal range is more in the middle than in the very front of the photo frame. I also like how the snow and ice particles are spread in this photo because it makes the layout of this photo interesting to look at and the perspective of the photo is smooth. I also like how I positioned the photo at a very crouched and low angle looking low and up a little bit because it changes the perspective of the photo. I think the glow of the ice crystals and the moss make this photo really interesting to look at combined. I think if the photo had a deeper depth of field the photo wouldn't be as interesting to look at and you wouldn't see the neat textures and your focus wouldn't draw you far into the photo. The only thing I wish I could have changed in this photo would have been to move the blue dot in the front bottom corner of the photo because it makes the photo just slightly a tiny bit distracting to the focus of the photo. I took this photo on my Nikon D3200 with natural lighting, without flash, using auto focus adjustments, and using the live view mode on my camera to position the framing of the photo without losing my framing height at a low angle by looking through the tiny camera view window.
Alford_my new dog
This is my new dog Felo. I saw him laying down in his dog bed. I thought that it would make a good picture. It took me a little while to get him to actually look at me. Then once he finally did look at me I took the picture. It came out really dark. Then he looked away again. So again it took me a while to get his attention again. Once he was looking at me again i turned on the flash and took the picture. I wanted to get a little bit of glare from the flash in his eyes, because his eyes are so dark. I got him at the right time.
Teddy_Tree Needles
I took this photo this afternoon using my Nikon D3200 when I was doing a photo shoot of things to capture with my camera. I took at least 30+ photos, this being one of the best I captured this afternoon. I used only natural lighting that was provided for me to capture this photo. I liked this photo for many reasons. The first being the subject in this photo is the tree needles, I like how they were focused perfectly. I also liked how the water droplets left over from the snow are shimmering light from the sun onto the needles. I think the different variety of colors in this photo are important having different shades of colors such as yellows, greens, browns, reds, and oranges. Another thing that I really liked was the lighting in this photo, the lighting is perfect in this photo. I liked how the light is reflecting on the droplets, and also onto the tips and edges of the needles. I like how when I captured this photo the droplets create a mirror-like image through the bubble-like droplet, I think it is one of the most important parts of the photo. I also like how the light isn't harsh, which allows the photo to be strong and very-well presented to the viewer. Another thing I liked about this photo was the background, there wasn't anything really distracting about the background. By not having a distracting background allows the main subject to grab the fullest attention in this photo. I like how when I took this photo the background darkened to blur out the remaining light from both below and to the left and right sides of the photo. I also like how in the background there are little white dotted flares of light which are from blurred out water droplets. This creates an effect as if you were to capture of photo of a subject in direct sunlight you would get the little flares of light in the view of the lens. Having all of these things in this photo allows the photo to have a better amount of quality to the photo, which really makes this a great photo all around to look at. I don't think I would have changed anything if I were to retake this photo.
grace m. a.m p.m
I took two photos of my front yard from a higher point of view so that the light could be still visible even with all the trees. The first photo was taken on Saturday morning at 6:40 ish and the second photo was taken on Friday afternoon as the sun was starting to set, this was also the snow day. The placing of the light could have told you that though because in the first, the sun is behind the trees and in the second its on the tip of the farther away trees. It was a beautiful sight in person. I tried to have the photos be almost identical to where it is so it would be easy to compare and contrast. To get a closer look at the trees I took a different one over at my neighbor's place and there is little other colors but white that is visible.
Daniel_Main road(emergency)
I took this photo with my iPhone, yesterday I was outside the house and try to took some photo about the snow, I took ten of the photos about the snow and finally decided to choose this one, I like the light on the road, it looks really good, the light are just the right amount, I focus on the middle of the road so when you see this photo, first thing you see will be the main road, put your sight right into the middle of the photo, also as you keep look at the photo, the main road gets far and far, it also adds more depth of this photo, the light ray on the top of the left looks good too me, it looks really beautiful and looks like a sun, actually it was a road light, but still I think it adds more depth of the photo too.

Odisi_MyDog
This is my dog again... Shocker. I took this photo today while I was laying on the floor thinking of what I could take a photo of since the other photos I took were not too great. I really like this photo because my dog's face is in focus and the background is not. I especially like that I can see her nose in great detail and pretty much every hair in the front of her face. I think the lighting is pretty good too. There are not any harsh shadows on her and I think her hair is the same color in the picture as it is in real life. The reason for this is that the main light source in this room is a window but there is a light turned on which casts a yellowish color directly above her eyes.

ParkerY_Misc Jan 31 make up
I took this image the other day when I visited McGill in Montreal. The skies were all cloudy, no direct sun light and caused no harsh light tones. I like the white and bright skies contrast with the green and dark grass. As well as the contrast of the colorful trees and the blander colored buildings.

Daniel_camera on the snow(emergency, make up for last week Sunday post)
I took this photo with my iPhone last week, it was afternoon, I was take a walk and try to find something to shoot, then I have this photo, I put my camera on the ground, and use my phone to take this photo, I focus on the camera so you can see all the detail about the camera, the "Nikon" letter and size of the camera lens, and you still can see the background which is good, the sunlight comes from the top of the photo which I think it was really good, the grass come out from the ground was really beautiful, you can see the grass at front was clear to see, and then the back of the grass is a little bit not clear to see, but still looks good, adds more depth of this photo.
