Alford_reef and tree

The first picture I took with my canon 5D. It was at my grandmothers house. This is her back door. She put her reef and all her christmas cards on the door. So I thought that it would be a good holiday themed picture. I had to zoom in the best I could to get the best result for a picture.

The second picture I also took with my canon 5D. This was taken in my living room where we put together and decorated our tree. So I waited until it was dark outside. So when it was dark outside I turned on all the lights and I tried to get as many ornaments in the picture as possible. I also tried to get enough lights shining at one time.

  1. I really like your photos. I like the lighting in the top photo because it isn't too harsh and it has a nice natural shadow-like reflections on the four corners of the photo, it makes a somewhat vignette shape effect. I like the essence of Christmas in the top photo with the Christmas cards and the wreath on the door. The only thing which slightly takes away the focus of the photo is its a little bit shaky, and the the top of the glass window on the door is cut off. I really like your second photo, I think the lighting on the tree is well balanced and it is well focused even though it is very dark inside the room. I like the variety of colors on the tree lights balance with the different color ornaments. I also think the way you focused on the tree is really great because you can see all the amazing detail of the ornaments and the tree's branches, needles, lights, and beads around the tree. Its hard to get good photographs of christmas trees lit up in a dark room or area without using the flash. The only thing I would have changed in the second photo would have been to show a little bit more of the beads near the bottom and corners of the tree and the ornaments because some of the ornaments are partially cut off. I think if you zoomed out just a little bit you would see more of the cool ornaments and it would make the photo slightly different perspective. Otherwise, I think this is a nice photo. Keep up the good work.
