Daniel_Ruin

I took this photo at photography class, the camera that I used is Nikon Coolpix L330, I focus on the ruin no the building or tree because I want to try something new, I want to take the photo about the ruin and the day was ruining when I was at photography class, you can see the ruin details on this photo which I think it is really cool, I took two photos of this, other one have the details about the tree but I think this is more better.

Alford_look what i found

I took this picture with my Nikon 40. I must have walked by this 100 times without even noticing it. I had to zoom in a lot to not get any distracting backgrounds. I tried to use the flash but there was to much of a glare, so I turned it off. But overall I think the lighting is pretty good. The lighting aloud it to capture a lot of detail.

Grace M Take off of Look What I Found

Along with the project "look what I found" that we were assigned in school, I also did a little look what I found in my house. I prefer to have the photo in black and white because the colors looked too different from one another when it was in color. I see this on the daily so I always overlook it. I like having the two acoustic guitars on the side and the one electric guitar in the center of the guitars and the picture itself.

Grace M Palm Tree

I recently took this photo and I liked the sun shining through the palm trees. This was one of my first encounters with palm trees and even though the picture is in black and white the picture has a warm sense to it due to the sun and the stillness of it. The trees then become a shadow and the sky becomes the light of the photo.

Cahines_Marian driveway

This is a photo that I took during the afternoon outside with natural sunlight. I chose this photo over a couple other ones I was thinking about posting because this one has the best lighting in my opinion. I really like how the little pieces of trash and the cracks on the driveway are in good focus. This is definitely not one of the most pleasant looking photos because of the trash and the dirt but I think the lighting coming in on the right hand corner gives the driveway a nice ambiance.

Odisi_MoonFails

I took these photographs on Sunday night during the lunar eclipse. I tried taking a nice photograph of the moon but it kept doing weird things to the photographs. Even though I could not get a nice photograph of the moon I like these because they are so weird. The first one, in my opinion, kind of looks like a reindeer which is cool because you would not expect that. The second one there was a kid playing with a laser pointer and I suppose when I took the photo it stayed. Finally the third one I am not really sure what happened but I think it looks awesome. I am a little bummed that I did not get a good photograph but everyone will be posting their own photos of the moon, in a variety of qualities, on Facebook anyway.

Anderson_architecture

I took this picture yesterday while I was in Philadelphia to see Pope Francis. It was taken around 2 pm in the afternoon. The photo is taken from an upward view of the building with columns, window, relief and decorations visible. I don't remember the name of this building but it might have been a bank.

I like how my picture shows many details like from the decoration piece on top of the relief, dental detailing along the roof of the building, and the detailing on the Corinthian columns. The top of the Corinthian column has ornaments. The design in the relief has two lions with wings and one soldier in between them. I really like the reflection of the sky on the window glass. It adds a nice touch to my picture. I kind of like the angle of this picture. It makes me want to look up. But then all I see are clouds. This building was of Grecian architecture, This picture is almost symmetrical. I wish I was taller or at least had a  better angle so it wouldn't appear to be so up high.

ParkerY_Misc

I took this photo early this summer during a sunset. I like the extreme contrast between the black shadows of the trees and the bright orange sky. Another thing that I like about the photo is that there is some texture in the sky and adds more detail to the sky and gives it more depth. This is a cropped picture with being the thing that was cropped out was a house that looked awkward and did not seem to fit in with the picture.

Eric_Incomplete

This photo was taken at the entrance of school where has a desk for supervisor. But nobody was there when I was taking this photo, only this sketchbook with a pencil and an eraser left on the desk. The sketchbook with an incomplete painting makes me have some associations about the owner of this sketchbook and want to take a photo of these. Why the owner left? Why this sketchbook was open with this incomplete work? This photo shows my ask.

Closeup_Julianna

I took this photo when I was out and about, when I came across this bush with all these pointy leaves and vibrant berries. I like this photo because you can really see the texture in the leaves and the berries. The leaves are flat and pointy while the berries are smooth and round. The only thing I would like to change about this photo is some of the harsh shadows in the front, but if I did take this from a different angle there would have been more harsh shadows and other distractions.

my favorite flower

This is my favourite flower. And i took this photo at  the gate of the school.  Why i took this school is because the color of this flower pleased me. So, i didn't hesitate to take a picture of it. Look at the pink color. Everyone will know about the meaning of it. Pink represents the meaning of happy. So, i think everything i should do is to show this picture to everyone and please everyone!

Yuchen_the flower in my garden

I took this picture of the flower this morning in my garden. This flower just bloomed this morning. the color of this flower which is pink and  gave such a cold day some warm. I do focus on this flower and blur on background. I try to point out my topic which is the power of new life. I think it is more successful one I taken this morning. I also took some pictures of other flowers, but others give people some stressful feeling which is not very good like this one. I love my camera!

AlexBrown_Marian Flowers_Misc

I took this photo last week in class when we went out to take photos. I decided to choose this photo because I think this photo was among the better photos I took last week in school. I like this photo because the flower is almost completely centered, the lighting isn't too harsh, and the flower is almost in complete focus. I also like that the front leaf and the flower is almost in clear focus and the rest is blurred out. I also like the shallow depth of field because it makes it less distracting to the viewer. I like the lighting because it is important to this subject. I like the contrast of pink and purple in this photo because it makes this photo have a little bit of variety to it.  I wish this photo was in crisper focus because it makes this photo not as interesting, since the right side of the flower is shaky. I also wish my photo was completely centered because it changes your focal point where it catches your eye to look at. I took this photo on my Nikon D3200 with the auto adjustment setting at a fast ISO speed. Still getting used to this camera even though I got this for my birthday over the summer.

Teddy_French Flag

I took this photo during my hunt for my Look What I Found assignment. I chose to take a photo of the French Flag because in my 3 years so far at Marian, I don't remember ever seeing this flag around the school. I really liked this photo because of the different varieties of colors, and contrasts in the photo. I like how the red on the flag is reflecting a glow of red onto the wall, with it doing this makes the photo have an interesting appeal to the viewers. Also I like how the yellow paint on the wall is casting a beam of yellow light onto the ceiling, which expands the variety of color options in this photo. The only thing I wish I could have changed would have been to extend the focus on the flag because the upper part of the flag is out of focus. If I had changed it, I don't think this photo would be as interesting of a setup for this photo as this one.

Daniel_Excalibur Symbiote

I took this photo use my Olympus Digital Camera C-725 Ultra Zoom. I really like this photo because today I just got my Excalibur Symbiote, I like this Excalibur Symbiote because it looks really cute, this model come from a video game character name Excalibur, I change the photo focus and light to let it looks more beautiful, the photo looks a little bit not clean because when I took this photo my hands are little bit shaking but I think it is ok because I kind like how it looks.

Cahines_colored lights

I like this picture primarily for the colors in it. I think without the little colored lanterns this photo would have been really boring. I took this photo at around 6 O'clock when there was still some pretty decent light but not as good as it was in the afternoon obviously. I usually take photos where at least half of the photo is blurred out and the other half is in good focus so this was a little different for me but I like how it turned out.

Anderson_book

I took this picture a few days ago in class. It is a picture of a book I was reading. I like the second picture more than the first picture. The first picture has three distractions, the fan, computer desk, and the paper underneath the book. There is shadow between the pages and in the background.  I think the picture looks better in black and white. It adds some mystery into the picture. If it were in color then it would have been a random everyday picture. The focus in on the book and pages. The surface and background is blurry. It adds depth to the pictures.

Parker_Cape Cod boat

I took this picture this summer and cropped the top and bottom parts of the picture that were just filled with blank water space and blank sky space. The location was Cape Cod, a boat in a docking area. I like how the boat is centered in the picture  I felt that the photo could be better if the back ground of the boat was simpler.

Eric_Invisible

These three photos were taken in my backyard, the cat looks like is looking for something in the air, but not on these photo and I also did not notice anything which was up in the air. Some people say that animals can see those mysterious invisible things like ghost and spirit. Maybe this cat saw something, but I will never know.I cut these photos into long and thin rectangle to stress cat's intention.

Alford_sundown

This picture was taken at sundown on Sunday evening. At the lake near my street. I chose to take this picture because, I think taking the picture at sundown would make the picture look a lot nicer then taking it during the day. Also the the shine on the water really made everything look better. But the reflection on the water is the best thing because it captures everything that is special about this picture.

Grace M Imagination

After taking photos at Wellesley college I had to go get my sister at St. Paul school. I was wondering around trying to find her when I came across this wall and door. Before at Wellesley college I got some photos I really liked of buildings, bridges, flowers etc. I looked hard for those photos whereas this picture just came to me. I like the amount of space. Its a very simple picture that has room for people to use their own imagination. I used to go to this school when I was younger and I never saw this part of the school, I always overlooked it, didn't think twice about it. Its the simple things in life we miss that can be the most beautiful. This may not be the vibrant photo everyone loves but look at the main color, dirty white with pieces of purple green and brown. When these colors are put together I interpret them as a symbol of peace and calmness. That will vary from person to person.

Julianna_Little Flower

I took this photo while I was walking on my street. I like this photo because the flower is in focus and the leaves behind it are not which creates depth of field. I also like the shadows in the photo because they add a nice affect to the photo. I also like the layers of petals the flower has and how you can really see the texture each petal has.

Odisi_majesticdoggy

This photo was taken on my balcony on Saturday morning on my dog's daily overview of the outside world. She likes going outside every morning to make sure everything is the same as the previous day. She also likes to bark at the dogs from the other building. I like this picture because she looks very majestic with the wind blowing and the sun making her glow. Dog is my favorite thing to take pictures of because she likes being the center of attention so she will pose for the camera.

Yuchen's favorite thing!

I like the playground, this is when I was in the queue. In the playground everyone is like a little child, happyatmosphere. Have a good day everyone!

Francesco_my favorite bus

I took this photo 3 days ago at school with my phone. I would like to photography this bus because in Italy we don't have this kind of bus and in generally schools don't have a school bus. For the italian guys this is a stereotype, we always see the yellow school bus in american films and it is the first time that i see a real one. When i took this photo, i edited it with instagram to make it more vintage and brightness.

Francesco_my favourite sunset

I took this photo on the 28 of july. I was in Ponza, Italy with my friends. We were in another place of the island during the day but we went to this part called Lucia Rosa that is a famous place to see the sun goes down. The island that is captured in the photo is the island of Palmarola, a small island in front of Ponza where nobody lives which is famous for the colour of its water that is really green and clean.

AlexBrown_Misc_Bird perched on tree branch

I took this photo over the summer in the end of July, up in New Hampshire, when I visited my dad's parents. I took this in the afternoon with natural lighting and partly cloudy skies. I saw a bird in the tree so i didn't want to scare it away so I stood very still and took a few photos. This by far was the better of the several other photos of this bird. I like this photo because the colors are balanced well, the main focus point is the bird and the bird is almost in perfect focus. I also like the variety of color with the greens, brown, black, red and grey in the foreground and background because it makes this photo not very dull and appealing to look at. I also like the high detail in this photo because you can see the action better. I also like that the bird is randomly very photogenic to having his photograph taken, and looking directly at my camera. I also like that the background is out of focus because it makes the photo less distracting,  and it also makes the photo interesting. I also like that the bird naturally makes a sort of camouflage-like contrast to the branch he is perched onto. I also like the natural shadows in this photo because it makes the photo have tone, contrast, and less dull. I also like that the bird is centered in the photo because it gets your eye to focus on the main target in the photo. I wish I was closer to the bird so you could see him better. I took this photo on my Nikon D3200 with natural lighting, auto focus, 1/450/s shutter speed and without any flash.

Teddy_Misc U2 Concert

I chose to post two sets of photos because I really loved these two so much that I felt that I couldn't leave one of the sets out.  I captured these photos at the U2 concert at TD Garden for their Innocence+Experience Tour, during the summer in early July. I took these photos using my Nikon D3200.  Of the several hundred photos I took, these were among the best ones, and also my favorite of the bunch.  I used only natural lighting that was reflecting from the stage lights.  I liked these photos so much that I thought by editing them, it gave the photos a better focus on the main subjects in the photo which are Bono, The Edge, and Adam Clayton who are shown in the second set of photos.  In the first set I thought that the people behind Bono made the photo more of a distraction.  With the edited version in black and white, it blocks out most of the background distractions, allowing the viewer to be more focused on the full attention to Bono.  To edit the second versions from each set of photos I used iPhoto on my MacBook to edit the saturation and colors, using the black & white effect as well as fade to enhance the depth of the photo, which gives it a more professional look to the photos.

Jonnyyue_my favorite car

This is my Dad's car. And it has very old age. Maybe it should be an antique. But i love it so much. My father gets this car 30 years ago. But he still loves it until now. Overtime when i sit inside it, i always enjoy the voice of the engine. that's pretty enjoyable. So, anyway, whatever it looks like, maybe is too old, but i still love it so much! Hope you guys will fall in love with it like me!

Alford_fun and bored

This is a picture of two people having fun and one person being really bored. I took this with my Nikon 40. I chose this topic because I thought it would be a creative and fun way to express opposites. The people who are laughing are my mom and dad they are the ones that are having fun (obviously). And on the right this is my sister being bored doing her homework. This was in my house in my family room. I thought this would be a great spot to take this picture because this is where my family spends most of our time. Also because the lighting is very good.

Eric_Favorite animal

I like cat more than dog, because cats are more elusive, which means they can give more surprise to the photographer. I took this photo in my yard, when I tried to get close to the cat when he was rolling on the grass, he noticed me and turned around immediately, and I took this photo of his scared eyes.I edited this photo a little bit on my PC, I increase the color saturation and contrast ratio to make the grass looks vivid.I also cut the picture from 6:4 to 16:9 to make the picture shows more visual impact.

Alexb_ Favorite Car

I took this photo this evening on my Nikon D3200. I chose my favorite car as an Audi because I love the slick design of their car models. I took a photo of my mom's new 2016 Audi A4 because this is a beautifully designed car, I love the shape, the headlights, the frame and it is a perfect built car. I love the low exposure in this photo because it isn't too harsh and difficult to see. I like that the car isn't overexposed and is in complete focus. I also like the reflection of my house can be seen on the body of the car and I think that makes this photo interesting to the viewer. I think the photo is also perfect because the headlights aren't too overexposed and the light isn't hard to see the details of the car. I also love the shininess of the car because it makes it appealing to look at. I wish the background wasn't too distracting because it takes away the focal point of the car a bit. I also wish you couldn't see the headlights of an incoming car way in the distance of the photo because it makes it distracting.

Teddy_Favorite Flower

I took this photo with my Nikon D3200 this afternoon in the front of my house. I chose this photo out of the dozen photos I captured this afternoon, this one being the best. I took several shots of the black-eyed Susan flowers. I like it how the lower flower is in complete focus, with that flower being in total focus, it grabs the full attention of the viewer immediately. I like how the background is blurred and dark because it allows the flowers to be the main subject for this photo. I used all natural lighting and no flash or additional lighting was used to capture this photo with my camera.

Parker_Opposites

This photo was taken in my neighborhood and one of my neighbors garden. I like this photo because the reds and greens are the main colors in the picture. I also like the red petals peppering the foreground with green leaves in both the foreground and green grass in the background. I made some cropping to get rid of the mulch on the bottom of the picture and the truck of the right. I wish I could have gotten rid of the yellow petals.
Which picture seems better? The original or the cropped one.

My favorite computer

This is my favorite computer, Alienware. I took this picture at home, I tooks like 10 pictures and finally chose this one, I change the picture effect and let it looks more beautiful, Alienware is a computer hardware from Dell, my Alienware 17 Laptop is a powerful game machine, this is the one reason why it becomes my favorite computer, and its speed was very fast, most beautiful thing is its keyboard and touchpad, you can change its keyboard and touchpad color, I really love this design.

Grace M Favorite Sport

My favorite sport is basketball. I love to play competitively and just for fun. When taking photos I started trying to get in action shots which then became pictures of just a court/gym but then I thought, how many people do that? The answer is a lot. Therefore I took this photo which shows the things I need to have in order to be able to play. I like the different textures such as the one coming from the basketball itself (bumpy), the ankle brace (smooth and rough), and the shoes which are a little blurred in the background (smooth). I also like having the NBA symbol up front as one of the things you see first when looking at this picture. When I took this, these objects were all in my duffle bag together and they were placed on a bench that is next to a window. It was light out and its shown in this even though the photo is presented in black and white. You can tell where the light hits most because of the shadows.

Anderson_Favorite color

I took this picture in my neighborhood. My favorite color is green and lily pads are green. I think nature is a great example of the color green. I like the different sizes and kinds of lily pads. Some lily pads hold water in the center. I like how the edges of the lily pads curl up.

The second is a picture of a greenhouse containing green tomato plants in rows. The rows and roof supports add to the feeling of a long space. The tomatoes have not ripened and blend with the plants. I like the perspective and feeling of the long space.

I found those two original pictures were dull and boring so I edited them on my computer. I changed the saturation by making my pictures appear more vibrant and appealing.
